In order to guarantee equivalence with the paper registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt, your identity must be verified by Tessi Documents Services with a "substantial" level of confidence before the delivery of your electronic registered letter (when you collect a paper registered letter from a post office you must show your proof of ID). This substantial level can only be achieved by a physical face-to-face process or one recognised as equivalent to face-to-face by a state body. A certificate for which your identity has been verified face-to-face, a means of identification delivered face-to-face, a substantial digital identity recognised by the state or a PVID-certified remote identity verification process not only guarantee this level of trust but also ensure that you remain on a 100% paperless process when using the Service.
The means of identification available on mon- recommandé-électronique.fr to collect an ERL are:
- An RGS**/eIDAS personal identity certificate
- Using your digital identity via France Connect +
- An ANSSI-certified PVID remote identity verification solution
Remote identity verification
Remote identity verification serves the same purpose as face-to-face identity verification. A remote identity verification service verifies that the identity document presented by the user is genuine and that the user is the legitimate holder. When you collect an electronic registered letter (ERL), his remote identity check is carried out by video using your smartphone.
- You validate/complete your information and give your consent
- You get your proof of ID ready,
- You film your ID and your face,
- You wait for confirmation and then access your electronic registered letter.
In order to identify yourself and acknowledge receipt of your Electronic Registered Letter, you will need to use an identity document on which the name matches that entered by the sender of your Electronic Registered Letter.
If you notice a spelling mistake in your first or last name, please contact our customer service department.
Your date of birth, together with your surname and first name, helps us to avoid homonym errors as far as possible when we launch the remote identity verification system.
We ask you to fill it in a second time to secure your access to your electronic registered letter.

Biometrics covers all the techniques used to automatically recognise an individual on the basis of their physical, biological or behavioural characteristics (for example, in this case, comparing your physical characteristics between the selfie video and your identity document). Biometric data is sensitive data. Data protection regulations therefore strictly govern their use. The use of a biometric device must above all meet a justified and proportionate need (for example, to give you access to your electronic registered letter). As a user, you must be free to choose whether or not to use the biometric device. A record of your consent will be kept.
The remote identity verification process includes the processing of your personal data, including biometric data, for the primary purpose of identifying you in order to give you access to your Electronic Registered Letter. Your personal data may also be processed for the purpose of improving the anti-fraud service. To do this, our PVID certified partner collects your consent.
You can choose another authentication method on the portal by selecting "Verify my identity".
We accept all types of ID :
- Identity card

The PVID (Prestataires de vérification d’identité à distance - Remote Identity Verification Service Providers) standard is a document issued by the ANSSI (French National Information Systems Security Agency) to enable companies wishing to do so to set up a reliable remote identity verification system to combat identity fraud.
Companies certified by ANSSI are therefore listed as "PVID", which enables them to certify that their remote identification service is secure and helps reduce the risk of identity theft. The identity verification process is based on automated and human checks to guarantee both the authenticity of the identity document presented and that the user is the legitimate holder.

If you do not have a valid proof of ID, do not have a compatible smartphone or cannot be in a bright place with a good internet connection, we suggest you choose another means of identification.

Certificate
An RGS**/eIDAS digital certificate is an electronic identity card for individuals associated with companies, local authorities or associations. They are nominative and are issued to an individual in their professional capacity. This person must be able to represent the organisation (company, local authority or association) for which he or she works. They provide definitive proof of the link between the individual's physical identity and the organisation in question.
